RADICALLY OPEN – DIALECTICAL BEHAVIOUR THERAPY
Saturday 2 February 2019
The Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA)
The SA State Section of ACPA are excited to conduct the first professional training opportunity in RADICALLY OPEN – DIALECTICAL BEHAVIOUR THERAPY (RO-DBT) in South Australia.
RO-DBT is a relatively new 21st century treatment for disorders of Over-Control. Psychiatric conditions which can be defined as being Over-Control in nature, such as Anorexia Nervosa, Chronic Depression, and Avoidant, Paranoid and Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorders have often been found to be difficult to treat by mental Health professionals. RO-DBT has been developed and researched over the past 20 years and has been found to be an effective treatment for these disorders (see www.reframed.org.au and www.radicallyopen.net).
Ms Tanya Gilmartin has been engaged to provide the first professional development offering of RO-DBT in South Australia (http://ro-dbtaustralia.com.au/home/professionals/). Tanya is the Lead Therapist and Consultant at RO-DBT Australia and the Melbourne DBT Centre. She has significant expertise in the research and treatment of substance use and eating disorders. Tanya has developed and implemented training in DBT and DBT adaptations for different populations. She travelled to the UK to become the first Australian clinician completing the intensive RO-DBT training program. In December 2018, Tanya will co-facilitate the first RO-DBT training to Australian clinicians with Dr Sophie Rushbrook from the UK.
This 1-day workshop will introduce clinicians to RO-DBT, covering theory, treatment structure, prescribed treatment hierarchy and associated interventions through didactic and experiential learning experiences. This workshop is designed to be interactive with increased opportunity for case discussion due to the maximum of 50 participants. This is an excellent opportunity for clinical consultation teams to attend together.
