Transitioning from Student to Associate Membership
Negotiating Student and Associate Memberships

Student Membership ceases when you have completed your accredited post-graduate degree in clinical psychology, or have evidence from the accredited education provider that you have achieved the equivalent of a Master degree when undertaking a professional Doctoral program or a Combined Master/PhD program in clinical psychology, and are continuing full time in the PhD component of the degree. Students enrolled in an independent PhD full time in clinical psychology are also eligible for Student membership.

Once you have completed your degree it is necessary to change your membership category to Associate Member by completing the form online. Please note, submitting a Change of Membership Category form to upgrade your membership does not renew your membership. These are two separate processes. Please renew your Student membership before changing you membership category if your membership renewal is due. This will enable you to obtain a further year of free membership and ease your way into the profession.

Please note that the complimentary ACPA/IGH insurance does not cover you if you are not registered with ACPA in the correct membership category. Complimentary ACPA/IGH insurance is also only valid while you are being supervised by a clinical psychologist with an accredited post-graduate degree in clinical psychology.
